Competition is at the very heart of a Highland Games, it has been since the dawn of time. Stone Mountain Highland Games is certainly working hard to uphold this important component of the Highland Games. You will find large competitive fields in Highland Athletics, Highland Dancing, Piping, Drumming and even Pipe Bands taking place both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday Festival events include one of the largest Pipe Band contests in the Southeast. We routinely host 30 or more pipe bands competing for bragging rights (and some cash). Our Highland Dance field is nothing short of amazing as well. Saturday features some of the best dancers from throughout North America competing for hard-fought prizes. Let's not forget the Highland Athletes. After all, the first highland games were all about the Athletic Games. Simply put, these guys are amazing and should NOT be missed.
Sunday's Festival bring even more competition, but this time with a different personality. There will still be Highland Dancing, as our champions from around the Southeast US compete in a closed regional competition. The Athletes are back as well. This time however they compete for their clans in a special "Clan Challenge" format. Sunday morning will also be a time for our novice pipers to take their turns in the competition arena. |
